Bay State Savings Bank Elects William J. Fay, II Chairman of its Board of Directors February 24, 2023 WORCESTER, MA – Bay State Savings Bank is proud to announce William (Bill) J. Fay, II of Fay Brothers Inc., the parent company of three Central Massachusetts funeral homes, as the newly elected Chairman of Bay State’s Board of Directors. Fay succeeds chairman John H. McCabe, becoming the third chair to serve with Bay State President and CEO, Peter Alden, since his appointment in 2011. Having joined the board in 2015, after serving as a corporator for the Bank, Bill Fay’s dedication to serving the Worcester County community and Bay State runs deep. Withholding a generation-long family business, Bill is the sixth-generation Fay operating the oldest Funeral Service Business in Worcester as the current Vice President, Treasurer, Licensed Funeral Director, and Embalmer of Fay Brothers Funeral Home in West Boylston, Callahan, Fay, & Caswell Funeral Home, and Lindquist & Lundin Funeral Home, both located in Worcester. Established in 1870, 25 years prior to Bay State Savings Bank, the Fay family business has been providing the highest level of ethical, professional, and personal service to the families of Worcester County for over 150 years. As many Funeral Directors were closing their doors, the Fay’s were expanding and growing. They merged with long-time friends the Lundins in 2003 to begin oversight of Lindquist & Lundin, soon after in 2005 they merged with Callahan Brothers Funeral Home, and then finally Caswell King Funeral Home in 2014 which then created today’s main Worcester office appropriately named Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home. Both Fay and Bay State have not only been operating for over a century separately but have also been doing business together for just as long. Fay Brother’s Inc. is Bay State Savings Bank’s oldest existing depositor, a true testament to the vitality of economic growth and business in choosing community banking. Bill Fay’s commitment to the greater Worcester Community is extensive in both professional and personal capacities. In the past, he has served as the President of both the Worcester County Funeral Directors Association and the Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association; was a member of the Board of Advocacy and Policy for the National Funeral Directors Association; and has been the sub-registrar for the Board of Health for the City of Worcester and Town of West Boylston. He currently is a member or involved with the First Friday Club of Worcester through Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, the Worcester Lodge of Elks, the West Boylston Lions Club, The Main South American Legion Post, the Worcester Athletic Club, Wachusett Country Club, and Worcester Country Club. Above all, Bill Fay is a family man, proud of his family’s history and the legacy of service and care he hopes to pass down to his four young daughters one day, whatever profession they may choose. Looking to the future, Bay State Savings Bank’s President & CEO, Peter Alden is thrilled to work alongside Bill and the other 13 members of the Board in continuously serving the residents of Worcester and its surrounding towns. In congratulating Fay, Peter Alden trusts that “Bill Fay’s long-rooted history of service and knowledge of those living and working throughout Worcester County make him the perfect person to lead Bay State Savings Bank’s Board of Directors.” Bay State welcomes all those interested in learning more about community banking or in search of the right financial solution to visit a branch in Worcester, Holden, and Auburn, or by visiting baystatesavingsbank.com.
